Our History

Berkshire Caravans Ltd began as a touring caravan hire business, started by Chris and Tony Read, in 1969 and operated from premises at Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire.

In 1973 they purchased premises at Wokingham Road, Earley, Reading and took on the then powerful C.I. main dealership, which incorporated Sprite, Eccles and Europa Caravans. These marques are still manufactured today, but now under the Sterling name by the Swift Group, the market leaders.

In 1974, workshops were opened at Queens Garage in the centre of Reading, which in 1979 was developed into a Specialist Repair centre.

In 1986, town centre development dictated relocation to the larger, rural site at Three Mile Cross. This has now developed into the main Sales Centre, offering a well-stocked accessory shop, gas sales and workshop stores carrying a vast stock of spare parts, extensive workshop facilities, and the main dealerships for Bailey Caravans and Sterling Caravans.

1998 saw our Silver anniversary - 25 years of supplying caravans, parts and servicing.
We usually offer around 40 new and up to 100 used caravans for sale. Most of the new are provided with a 3 year warranty, whereas the used are given a comprehensive service and a 12 month warranty. This is extendable to 24 or 36 months for a small premium. This level of commitment gives the purchaser the assurance and peace of mind that only comes when buying from a local reputable dealer.

Following the retirement of Chris and Tony Read, Berkshire Caravans operates solely from the Three Mile Cross Site, now owned and run by Roger Woodward and his dedicated staff, who together have an incredible number of years experience in the caravan industry. We continue the tradition of offering value for money caravanning together with friendly service to match.
